Shelly Rydell joined the Dickens Mitchener team in 2003 and quickly became a top producer for the company in just two short years, with 90% or more of her annual sales coming from referrals. As a Charlotte native with deep family roots in the area, she has extensive knowledge of the city’s most sought-after neighborhoods. Rydell attended the North Carolina State University College of Design, and earned two degrees in architecture. She worked in the commercial architectural field for more than 10 years before eventually pursuing a career in real estate. She grew up in the SouthPark area, but chose the Elizabeth neighborhood to buy her first home as a single 25-year old woman. She moved to Washington, D.C. for five years before returning to Charlotte in 2003. She now calls Cotswold home with her family of four.
Not only does she have extensive real estate experience helping her clients, she also has bought and sold her own real estate throughout the years. She has bought fixer-uppers and homes that she had to extensively renovate. She has bought single family homes, multi-tenant properties, free standing, attached row houses and commercial condos throughout the entire Charlotte metro region, stretching from Lake Norman to York County. Rydell has done a major renovation to a historic row house, and has ripped the roof off a ranch to double its size. She brings enormous value to her clients in seeing a home for what it is today, and what it’s future potential could be. This skill has also helped her when representing sellers – she excels in preparing a home to be market-ready. Her clients value and trust her instincts and attention to detail. Rydell’s number one goal is always act in her clients’ best interest, while always keeping the big picture in mind.
In her free time, Rydell enjoys spending time with her lovely family, volunteering for her girls’ school and Girl Scout troops and taking oil painting classes at the Braitman Studio.
