“Catharine is the best relocation/residential real estate person that I have have worked with. The quality of her work and attention to detail is excellent. As an example of her going above and beyond, at the closing dinner for the client, she offered to drive almost 100 miles to review the clients old house and work with the local broker to get it sold. Damned if she did not do it!”
“Catharine is a tremendous resource and advocate for transferees in her market. We have shared business referrals and I have always been impressed with the caliber of professionalism and care she takes with my clients.”
“Catharine was a Godsend!”

Corporate Development & Community Relations: Steve Byrum
Email Steve Byrum
Steve Byrum is something of a rare breed in that he is a third-generation Charlottean. Growing up, he attended Myers Park High School and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1964. Byrum prides himself on his knowledge of the growing Charlotte metro area as well as surrounding neighborhoods. After college, Byrum got married and started his own business, where he operated a seed distribution company that serviced six southern states. This experience served him well when he sold his business and made the transition into the real estate industry in 2001.
Byrum has always been admired for his keen attention to detail and impressive listening skills. “When I started in business, my mentor told me that selling is very simple. He told me that I just had to ask people what they want and then get it for them,” says Byrum. This motto has proved to be successful for Byrum; however, he admits sometimes it takes a plethora of questions to pin-point exactly what his clients want. Byrum truly enjoys interacting with people, and this element has always made his real estate transactions fulfilling and gratifying.
Byrum was named head of corporate development and community relations for Dickens Mitchener in 2014, where he uses his keen networking abilities to secure new business for the firm, as well as promote the benefits of working with Dickens Mitchener’s full-time, real estate professionals who set the region’s standard for innovative practices, client satisfaction and outstanding results. As head of corporate development and community relations, he assists Relocation Director Catharine Pappas in forming strategic corporate relationships to ensure that more transferees choose Dickens Mitchener and thus benefit from the customized move management services offered by the firm’s market-leading agents. Byrum actively participates in the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce’s most pertinent meetings, events and trips. He also represents Dickens Mitchener at strategic networking events held by the city’s top organizations and charitable groups.
